Night shift, the time when introverts sigh a sigh of relief
A time for night owls to flourish without guilt
The beautiful hours from 2300-0700 when one is mostly by themselves
The quiet hum of air conditioning and a sleeping ship
Phone calls to friends and family
Silent tears
An interrupted time to think and process this wonderfully hard and beautiful life I live. A time for me to silently do my job and keep watch over the ship, while taking care of my heart. There are so many cool things to do here, so many people to meet and so much to think about that most of the time I find myself not thinking at all and just trying to take in all of it, everything. But only so much water can be poured into a container. Night shift lets me stay up, enjoy the silence, and to breathe...and then, I can start thinking and earnestly pray about and work through whatever it is that has been happening around me lately, its those nights like tonight that the promise from Psalm 30:5b comes to life in me. It's my time to dance with Jesus and feel the healing balm of His love in my heart.
Psalm 30:5 comes to life for me on night shifts.
"Weeping may last for the night, but joy come in the morning."

I shall try this again, not sure why it didn't work last time. I know I haven't really talked to you much since you've been gone, however you do cross my mind often.
ReplyDeleteI hope all is well for you this night (and every one following), and that you are indeed finding the peace, harmony, love and healing that you seek.
Please continue to be safe, and I sincerely wish you the best in all that you continue to do with Mercy Ships. True perhaps, our life paths led in separate directions, however our meeting was not coincidence, and if nothing else, hopefully at least this moment of support from someone far away might make you smile for a moment.
Be good, and many thoughts sent your way.
PS Night owls are the best - just a (highly biased) FYI =)
